Source: UI GreenMetric Waste evidence forms 3.5–3.18, reporting cycle 2025. The generated total of 722.74 tonnes comprises 490.88 tonnes organic, 231.01 tonnes inorganic, and 0.85 tonnes hazardous waste. The 531.31 tonnes recycled comprises organic treatment and inorganic recovery; 0.85 tonnes of hazardous waste was treated separately. Forms 3.7 and 3.11 report 190.58 tonnes remaining for landfill (98.18 tonnes organic and 92.40 tonnes inorganic).
Organic-waste recovery and student-led material innovation
GreenMetric forms 3.7 and 3.8 report that 392.70 tonnes of the 490.88 tonnes of organic waste generated in 2025 were treated (80.0%). The evidence describes source separation, on-site co-composting, and mechanical mulching of suitable landscape material, with treated material returned to campus green areas. The reported figure is treated organic waste; the evidence does not state the measured mass of finished compost.
The GreenMetric sustainability-startups record (form 6.16) lists EcoWrite, recorded as established on 10 March 2025 with three student founders, as a funded prototype developing sustainable stationery and cellulose-based materials from recycled paper and agricultural residues. The record does not quantify waste input or commercial output.
12.4 Publication of sustainability report
12.4.1 – Publication of sustainability report
The university makes sustainability information available through its reporting and institutional web channels. The accompanying comprehensive sustainability report provides a consolidated account of policies, activities, and evidence.
