Health Care Services
The University of Larbi Ben M’hidi, Oum El-Bouaghi, demonstrates its commitment to the health and well-being of its university community through its Medical and Social Centre (Centre Médico-Social – CMS). The centre provides healthcare services to students, academic staff, administrative and technical staff, and other eligible members of the university community, helping make healthcare an integral part of university life.
According to the university’s published information, the CMS offers medical consultations without appointments and healthcare services without upfront fees. Its multidisciplinary services include general medical consultations, nursing care, first aid, treatment, dental consultations and procedures, psychological support, laboratory investigations, radiology, and medical observation. The centre also provides health monitoring and medical follow-up for individuals requiring continued care.
In 2025, the CMS recorded 8,302 medical consultations, demonstrating its contribution to meeting the healthcare needs of the university community. This figure reflects the reported consultation activity for the year and should be supported by the centre’s official 2025 activity report.
Sexual and Reproductive Health, Prevention and Education
The CMS contributes to health education and disease prevention through awareness activities addressing communicable diseases, including sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and HIV/AIDS. These initiatives aim to improve health awareness among young people, encourage preventive practices, and support informed health decisions.
The centre also provides medical follow-up for pregnant women and supports the monitoring of health conditions within the university community. These services contribute to reproductive and maternal healthcare. The centre’s published activities also include screening, medical follow-up, counselling, and preventive health initiatives.
Mental Health and Psychosocial Support
Recognising that well-being encompasses both physical and psychological health, the CMS provides psychological consultations, counselling, and guidance for students. Its activities also address psychosocial concerns and include support related to tobacco and drug cessation, alongside awareness initiatives promoting healthier lifestyles.
Through these services, the university supports students’ physical health, psychological well-being, and access to appropriate healthcare within the university environment.
