On October 23-24, 2024, Dmitry Gladyrev, Director of the Center for Research Support at the Graduate School of Economics and Management (GSEM) UrFU, participated in the Third International Conference on “Challenges of the Algerian Economy in the Third Millennium: Digitization and the Informal Economy” at Oum El Bouaghi University, Algeria. The event, which focused on the critical issues of the informal economy and the role of digital transformation, attracted experts and scholars from around the globe to discuss sustainable economic solutions.

Dmitry Gladyrev delivered a presentation highlighting GSEM’s academic achievements and expanding ties between Russia and Algeria in global research networks. His talk then transitioned into an insightful analysis of how both nations are positioned on the world scientific map, with a special focus on the potential for increased research collaboration.

During the event, Dmitry also presented one of his most recent studies on the factors influencing the development of environmental management in companies.

The conference addressed Algeria’s struggle with the informal economy and discussed innovative solutions to combat it, particularly through digitization. The digitization of the financial and tax sectors, as well as the introduction of modern technologies, were presented as key strategies to restore trust in the formal financial system and integrate informal economic activities.

GSEM UrFU’s participation in such international conferences demonstrates the school’s commitment to advancing global economic research and fostering academic cooperation with institutions worldwide.
