University Actions to Promote Sustainable Commuting
- Free Transportation through Public Buses
The Algerian government provides free transportation services for all students legally enrolled in the public higher education institutions, including the University of Oum El Bouaghi. This service is facilitated through an extensive and integrated network of public buses reserved to university students across different states. To benefit from this service, all Algerian students are required to annually pay a nominal fee of just 135 Algerian dinars. Additionally, they must be legally enrolled in one of the public higher education institutions.

- Sustainable Mobility
The University of Oum El Bouaghi, represented by its Sub-Directorate of Scientific and Cultural Clubs, participated in the environmental sports event “Plogging Race” which is organized by the Directorate of the Environment in the province of Oum El Bouaghi. This event serves as part of the agreement between the Ministry of the Environment and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) on the “Car-Free Day,” celebrated on September 22nd of each year.
The race witnessed the active participation of various organizations and associations of the province. It starts at the House of the Environment and finishes at the University.
This initiative aimed to raise awareness of the importance of environmental conservation and to embody civic environmental commitment in the field of waste collection, raising, and sorting.
We extend our sincere appreciation and respect to all the participants, especially the university clubs under the Sub-Directorate of Activities, who actively took part in this race, including:
- The Economists Club
- The Five Hobbies Club
