5.    Mental Health Support

The Medical and Social Center (CMS) at the University of Oum El Bouaghi offers a comprehensive range of healthcare services to the university community. The main activities organized by the center include systematic medical visits for target populations, medical consultations and on-demand care, dental consultations and procedures, as well as a medical analysis laboratory for biological investigations.

The CMS is also involved in the prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases, including screening, management, and follow-up of various detected cases. Additionally, the center serves as a COVID-19 center, providing rapid tests and management for positive cases.

The CMS addresses the psychosocial issues of students, including epidemiological surveys and investigations around detected cases of contagious diseases such as meningitis, typhoid fever, foodborne illnesses, and offers education and awareness campaigns among young people on prevention and control of communicable diseases such as STDs/AIDS, tobacco control, drug abuse, etc.

The center also provides assistance for tobacco and drug withdrawal, counseling and guidance activities for students, and promotes a healthy lifestyle within the university. Lastly, the CMS identifies health issues within the university setting and organizes vaccination campaigns against hepatitis B and COVID-19.
