Presentation:

The Center of Network Communication (CRI) ensures the consistent development of IT, networks, telecommunications, and information systems;  as well as it provides the availability of hardware and software resources.

It guarantees the security of the Networks; in particular it ensures the respect of the computer charter for the right use of the network:

-It develops software adapted to the administrative and financial management and to the functioning of pedagogy and research.
-It assists faculties and research structures in covering their computing needs.
-It improves both administrative and pedagogical management of the university.
-It promotes research by developing the use of computer tools.

-It contributes to the generalization of computer science education within the University by organizing internships for teaching and administrative staff.

The IRC (CRI) takes part to :

-the design and control of the various information systems of the institution, in direct relation with the management of the university;
-the development of an IT master plan to implement a coherent Network and telecommunications IT resources policy.

The IRC is available to users for:

-supporting users of central services and administrative secretariats in the integration and optimization of IT tools supporting their administrative, educational, logistical and documentary activities;
-ensuring the management and maintenance of IT logistics;
-advising and proposing appropriate training for new IT tools.

          Central Building, Rectory, first floor.
He is in charge of:
-Messaging: this task is managed by the network section which manages the Zimbra mail server; for the moment more than 800 professional accounts are created.
– In order to increase the number of accounts, our university launched, this year 2017, a consultation for the acquisition of a certified solution of 1750 professional accounts and 17500 students’ accounts.
-This collaboration solution gives us all the essential components, including security. It is administered using an Ajax Administration Console which will allow :
– to maintain the normal daily operation of the university’s intranet network,
– to ensure the security of the network equipment and services offered by the network to the information system and the applications and finally provide Internet connection services, electronic messaging.
Our computer Network, which has more than 2,200 plugs, consists of:
– An ASA 5510 firewall (which ensures the security of the network),
– Cisco 3900 Series Router for Access to 100 MB RNA Networks
– A federator Switch 6509, (represents the heart of the network),
– A unifying Switch 4503, (connecting the old campus to the CRI),
– A unifying Switch 4507, (connecting the campus with 3000 teaching places to the CRI),
-Two 3560 switches, allowing connection of 2690 access switches.
– A series of 2690 switches, allowing the connection of users.
– A web gateway (Ironport S370) ensuring the security of internet access,
– A Mail Gateway (Ironport C370) ensuring the security of mail transactions,
–  An LMS server (DHCP, primary DNS),
– An auxiliary DNS server.

In order to improve our visibility on the web and make our university better known to the world, we have put online, from January 2017, the new website under the wordpress platform with a more meaningful interface that gives quick access to all data; in addition to 07 faculty, 03 institutes and the central library have their own website hosted via the main site, so that teachers, students and officials are informed of all the data of the University and in real time.
Computer applications available at the facility.

As a reminder, the section has two roles:
-Tele-teaching (E-Learning): the university has a MOODLE computer platform hosted at our level (tele-ens.univ-oeb.dz). This online learning platform is a means of communication and pedagogical supervision as well as a means of learning, which is used to study a specific subject, to do exercises and to ask questions related to the subject.
Currently it contains more than 300 courses, its address is: http://tele-ens.univ-oeb.dz/moodle/
Videoconferencing: We use a Polycom HDX 700 to conduct videoconferences with national or international institutions.
The section ensures the following tasks:
 – Installation and maintenance of the platform and the data backup periodically.
 -Providing the logistic and smooth running of workshops and training organized by the cell.

This year, we have planned a new C2i module for new teachers and administrators.

IT Charter:

1.Scope of the Charter

The rules and obligations set out below apply to any person; especially teachers, researchers, teacher-researchers, students, administrative or technical staff; authorized to use the means and computer systems of the University. These include the servers, workstations and microcomputers of the administrative services, classrooms or computers, laboratories and documentation centers of the University.
Compliance with the rules defined in this charter also extends to the use of computer systems of organizations outside the University, systems accessible through the institution’s networks, such as the Internet.

2. Conditions of Access to University Computer Networks

The sole purpose of the use of the University’s computer resources is to conduct research, teaching or administrative activities. Unless previously authorized by the University, these means may not be used for the purpose of using or carrying out projects that are not part of the University’s missions or missions entrusted to users. Each user is responsible for the use that is made of it. More generally, he will inform the IT manager of any anomaly he may notice.

3. Respect of the Deontology Computer Science Rules

Each user agrees to comply with the rules of computer ethics and in particular not to intentionally carry out operations that could have the following consequences:
 -to hide his true identity.
 -alter, modify data or access information belonging to other users of the network or to the University, without their authorization;
 -to undermine the integrity of another user or his sensitivity, particularly through provocative messages, text or images;
-to interrupt or disrupt the normal operation of the network or any of the systems connected to the network;
-to modify or destroy information on one of the systems;
 -to connect or try to connect to a site without authorization.

4. Use of Software

The user may only install software after consulting the relevant IT department. The user must not under any circumstances:
– install software of a playful nature;
– make a copy of a commercial software;
– bypass restrictions on the use of software;
 -develop programs constituting or resembling viruses.

5. Use of Computer Resources

Each user agrees to take care of the equipment and computer premises available to him. He informs the IT department of any anomalies found. The user must strive to occupy only the amount of disk space that is strictly necessary and use optimally the file compression means available to him. The use of resources must be rational and fair in order to avoid saturation. Any computer belonging to a department, laboratory or service must be connected to the network through a computer scientist from the University. The latter ensures in particular that the safety rules are respected.
A user should never leave a self-service desktop without disconnecting.
It is forbidden to connect any device other than mass storage that does not require the installation of a driver.

6. Special Dispositions for Teacher Users

-Management of teachers’ mailboxes:
All teachers at the University have a personal mailbox. The size of it is limited. To avoid malfunctions of the messaging service, the Network Center, information systems may be required to delete the oldest messages in case the mailboxes have reached a maximum size. In a more general way, modifications of the messaging parameters can be made to ensure the right functioning.

7. Access to Rooms Containing Computer Equipment

Users agree to respect the rules of access to the rooms containing the computer equipment.
These rules are to be consulted in computer rooms.
