The institute of management of urban techniques of the university of LAARBI BEN M’HIDI OUM EL BOUAGHI ensures since 2001 the training of the diplomas of engineers and of diploma of applied university study (DEUA).

The students come practically from 27 wilayas (2001) from Algeria then from 17 wilayas after the opening of the GTU of the University of Constantine. This is a great asset for the Larbi Ben M’hidi University, numbering 572 students (494 LMD – 78 post-graduation) during the 2019/2020 academic year.

This has favored the birth of a real mix between the different Algerian cultures. As a result, the number of permanent teachers specializing in the field of GTU continues to increase. It reached the number of 51 including 02 professor, 01 lecturers A, 08 lecturers B, 37 assistant masters A and 03 assistant masters B.

During the 2009/2010 academic year, the development sector was created while the geology and architecture streams were launched during the 2010/2011 academic year.

In 2013 the institute for the management of urban techniques was divided into two entities, the institute of GTU and the faculty of earth sciences and architecture, (executive decree N ° 13-164 of April 15, 2013, relating creation of the University of Oum El Bouaghi).

In addition, this institute since its creation has really played an important role in bringing local and regional institutions to the university through students in search of data and documentation. In addition, the local population has really become aware of the existence of this university space following the field work of the students (interviews with the inhabitants, surveys of built and non-built spaces, taking photos etc…).

    Type of training:

Since its creation in 2001, the institute for the management of urban techniques has trained engineers in town management, and graduates (LMD) in urban planning since 2008/2009.

At this stage, teaching within the department (long cycle) ensures that the student, who is trained to perform tasks in the technical services relating to town planning and construction, has the following objectives:

    – Reading and interpretation of the plans relating to the construction and equipment of buildings and VRD.

    – Knowledge of the principles of projection, management and operation of the various networks (water, electricity, internal installations, sanitation, etc.), the safety rules concerning buildings and various works and how to interpret them.

    – The organization, planning and coordination of the equipment works of the municipality. The GTU engineer must also have a general education combined with a solid versatile professional skill, both practical and theoretical, in order to be able to learn, choose, decide and finally coordinate between the different urban players.

Therefore, the targeted outlets are those of coordinator in a very wide range of fields of urban techniques, exercising in the direct productive system (study and monitoring of urban projects), also at the interface of techniques and services (local authorities, organizations such as DUC, architectural, urban planning and development offices and environmental inspections).
