  • Policy to Minimize the Impact of Alien Species on the University Campus

Based on the Convention on Biological Diversity under the United Nations Environment Programme, and with the assistance of university experts, especially the Department of Biology, the University of Oum El Bouaghi has established a policy to minimize the impact of alien species on the university campus. This policy includes the following:

  • Prohibiting the Introduction of Alien Species: The university prohibits its staff and students from introducing exotic plants or animals to the university campus without prior approval from the relevant authorities.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation: The university regularly monitors the plants and animals on the university campus to detect any potentially threatening exotic species. It evaluates the impact of these species on the local ecosystem.
  • Awareness and Education: The university organizes awareness campaigns and workshops for the university community, emphasizing the importance of preserving local species and explaining potential risks associated with alien species.
  • Local Partnerships: The university collaborates with local authorities, such as environmental protection agencies and local governments, to implement joint strategies for biodiversity preservation.
  • Periodic Assessment: Regular assessments are carried out to evaluate the effectiveness of the policy and the need for any modifications or improvements.
  • Dissemination of International and National Laws Related to Biodiversity and Minimizing the Impact of Alien Species on the University Campus
