The Directorate of University Services in Oum El Bouaghi was established by a joint ministerial decision issued on December 22, 2004, and further complemented by a joint ministerial decision issued on December 24, 2005, which outlined the creation of university service directorates, their headquarters, the list of affiliated university halls, and their facilities. When this decision was issued, there were two residence halls, but due to the increasing number of the baccalaureate holders and consequently the growing number of students pursuing higher education at the University of Larbi Ben M’Hidi in Oum El Bouaghi, the number of the halls has increased to nine, containing approximately 9950 bed in addition to nine integrated restaurants and three central ones.
