University Initiatives for Promoting Conservation and Sustainable Use of Aquatic Resources
A field trip to the Ourkis Dam
On World Wetlands Day, celebrated on February 2nd every year, the University of Oum El Bouaghi, in collaboration with the Directorate of Environment, organized a scientific field trip on Thursday, February 2, 2023. The field trip took place at the Ourkis Dam in the city of Ain Fakroun, and it was intended for students from the scientific clubs affiliated with the Sub-Directorate of Cultural, Scientific, and Sports Activities (Bio Art Club and Green Eco Star Club). The local governor, the President of the Provincial People’s Council, the Forest Conservator, and elementary school students attended the event.
During this field trip, participants had the opportunity to learn about the region’s nature and gain insights into some biodiversity concepts. The trip also featured a large tree-planting campaign at the dam site.
The Cultural and Media Club “Sada Al-I’lam” (Echo of Media) provided media coverage of the event.

- A Geological Sciences Symposium on “Earth Resource Origins and Environmental Impacts
The Faculty of Earth Sciences and Architecture organized the symposium, which was themed around the origins of earth resources and their environmental impacts.
The opening of the symposium was presided over by the Deputy Director of the University, Professor Pr. Khairedine Lamamra, representing the University’s Director, Professor Zohir Dibi.
The event was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Architecture, Professor Mohamed Cherif Adad, and the Director of the Institute for Managing Civilizational Technologies, as well as other faculty members, both from the University of Oum El Bouaghi and other institutions, along with representatives from local authorities.
