Monitoring the policy of equality, diversity, and inclusion
The University of Oum El Bouaghi implements the policy of equality, diversity, and inclusion in full, and here are some of its manifestations.
University Charter of Ethics and Morality
The University Charter of Ethics and Morality embodies the principles of mutual respect. It highlights that respecting others is built on the foundation of self-respect. As such, members of the university community are obligated to refrain from all kinds of violence (symbolic, physical, or verbal) harassment (moral or sexual), discrimination, and bias.
Students’ Rights and Responsibilities
- Students have the right to access information relevant to the internal regulations of the higher education system.
- Students have the right of freedom of expression as long as they comply with the regulations governing the functioning of university institutions.
- Students have the right to respect and dignity from members of the university community.
- Students are entitled to security and the good hygiene standards in universities and residence halls.
- Students have the right to quality teaching and mentoring based on modern and adapted pedagogical methods.
- Students have the right to fair evaluation, and they can legitimately make appeals in case of doubt of unfair assessment in certain exams.
- Postgraduate students have the right to get research-based training and to conduct research using resources available at their universities.
- Students have the right to access the lessons and to have the necessary training right from the beginning of every academic year.
- Students have the right to receive their grades accompanied by model answers and detailed scoring scales. They should also be allowed to review their exam copies.
- Students should have access to the library, information technology resource centers, and all the necessary material resources for quality training.
- Students have the right to choose their representatives in academic committees without any restriction or pressure.
- Students have the right to establish scientific, technical, cultural, or sports associations, in accordance with the applicable legislation. These associations are not allowed to interfere in the administrative management of university institutions.
- Students studying in Algerian universities should never be treated unfairly based on their ethnic backgrounds, gender, religious beliefs, political opinions, social or economic status, or health state. Likewise, no student should be subject to any form of psychological or sexual harassment.
