Bursaries

University bursaries are a direct form of support provided by the State to students. Since 1974, they have undergone several revisions in their values in line with the economic and social changes in the society. After the independence of Algeria, bursaries were initially allocated to all students to encourage them to pursue higher education, given their small number, which was then only 2800 students. However, after 1974, certain conditions were imposed to make students eligible for a bursary.

The bursary can be granted even if a student repeats an academic year once during their academic phase. Academic delays including any changes in the major, redirection, or discontinuation of studies for a specific period, regardless of the reasons leads to the suspension of the bursary. This grant is suspended when the delay exceeds one year, and it can only be awarded after a full year of academic success.
