The University of Oum El Bouaghi<\/strong> organized a study day titled “Renewable Energy: State of the Art and Perspectives.” The event was held in collaboration with SONATRACH<\/strong>.<\/p>

The study day on renewable energy brought together various stakeholders from the energy sector, researchers, and political leaders to discuss technological advancements, environmental challenges, and public policies needed to support the energy transition.<\/p>

This study day was part of the scientific activities of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Architecture<\/strong>. It took place at the Larbi Ben M’Hidi University of Oum El Bouaghi<\/strong> in the “2nd-floor conference room of the rectorate.” Participants included members from Larbi Ben M’Hidi University of Oum El Bouaghi<\/strong>, Batna 2 University<\/strong>, SONATRACH<\/strong>, and CDER<\/strong>, with some attending remotely.<\/p>

The presentations were as follows:<\/p>

  • State of the art for renewable energy in Algeria: potential and perspectives<\/strong> (Ms. Benzine Khadidja, SONATRACH)<\/li>
  • Perspective and potential of renewable energies in Algeria<\/strong> (A\u00cfT Ouali A., CDER)<\/li>
  • Conversion of hydrocarbon wells into geothermal wells in Algeria: A proposal to consider<\/strong> (Dr. Mazouz El Hadi, Larbi Ben M’Hidi University of Oum El Bouaghi)<\/li>
  • Understanding geothermal systems: A promising renewable energy resource<\/strong> (Dr. Bouroubi Yasmina, Larbi Ben M’Hidi University of Oum El Bouaghi)<\/li>
  • Geothermal energy in northern Algeria<\/strong> (Prof. Derias Tarek, Batna 2 University)<\/li><\/ul>

    The study day aimed to approach scientific conferences and congresses as both disciplinary and practical spaces for the exchange of knowledge. The goal was to spark a debate on renewable energies.<\/p>

    The university demonstrates a strong interest in renewable energy topics.<\/p>

    The study day provided a comprehensive overview of renewable energy technologies, the associated environmental challenges, and the necessary energy policies to encourage this transition. While significant progress has been made in improving technology efficiency, challenges remain in terms of storage, recycling, and integrating these energies into complex energy systems. International cooperation and public policy engagement will be crucial factors in ensuring the success of the global energy transition.<\/p>

    Recommendations<\/strong>:<\/span><\/p>

    • Accelerate research on energy storage and recycling technologies.<\/li>
    • Promote public policies that support innovation and public-private cooperation.<\/li>
