Faculty of Social and Human Sciences

     The Faculty of Social and Human Sciences at the University of Oum El Bouaghi is one of the leading faculties dedicated to the education and training of students in the fields of social and human sciences. It follows modern academic curricula that contribute to the development of scientific research and knowledge. The faculty is located at the 3,000-seat educational complex on Constantine Road, Oum El Bouaghi, and offers comprehensive academic programs at the Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral levels, in alignment with the needs of society and the job market.

The Faculty of Social and Human Sciences was established by:

  • Executive Decree No. 13-164, issued on April 15, 2013, which amended and supplemented Executive Decree No. 09-06 of January 4, 2009, concerning the creation of the University of Oum El Bouaghi.
  • Decision No. 431, issued on June 5, 2013, which defined the departments that constitute the faculty.

The faculty consists of two main departments, which include a variety of academic specializations:

▪ Department of Social Sciences

This department focuses on the study of social, psychological, and educational phenomena and offers the following specializations:

  • Sociology
  • Psychology
  • Orthophony (Speech Therapy)
  • Educational Sciences

▪ Department of Human Sciences

This department is dedicated to the study of history, media, and communication and includes the following specializations:

  • History
  • Media and Communication Sciences

The faculty relies on four specialized research laboratories aimed at supporting scientific research and advancing academic knowledge:

  • Laboratory of Media Studies and Digital Media
    • Specializes in studying the developments in digital media and their impact on society and modern communication.
  • Laboratory of Social Issues in Algerian Society
    • Focuses on the study and analysis of social issues facing Algerian society.
  • Laboratory of Ergonomics and Applied Research in Psychology and Educational Sciences
    • Concentrates on the applications of psychology and educational sciences, aiming to enhance human performance in various fields.
  • Laboratory of Maghreb Studies on History and Memory
    • Dedicated to researching Maghreb history and collective memory, analyzing historical events in the region.

Introduction of the Dean of the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences

Professor Khalil Chergui is a Full Professor of Business Administration at the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences, University of Oum El Bouaghi, Algeria. He holds a Ph.D. in Management Sciences, from the University of Biskra. He also serves as the Head of the Local cell for University Ranking and Promotion, contributing to the development of university ranking criteria and the enhancement of higher education quality.

His teaching and research expertise span multiple fields, including quality management, strategic management, knowledge management, entrepreneurship, organizational analysis, and business management. He is proficient in various research methodologies and techniques, particularly bibliometric analysis, qualitative analysis, and quantitative and statistical analysis in business administration. His scholarly contributions have been published in prestigious international journals such as Frontiers in Psychology and Frontiers in Public Health.

Professor Chergui has supervised numerous Master’s and Ph.D. students and possesses advanced skills in research and analytical tools, including SPSS, NVivo, Rstudio, Vosviewer, SmartPLS, and Amos. Additionally, he has conducted specialized training programs for local administration executives in areas such as public administration and human resource management.

Through his research and practical initiatives, Professor Chergui strives to improve the quality of higher education and promote strategic development, making him one of the key figures in advancing Algeria’s higher education system.
