Through its Medical and Social Centre (Centre Médico-Social – CMS), the university provides access to psychological consultations, counselling, guidance, and support for students experiencing psychological or psychosocial difficulties.

5.1. Psychological Care and Professional Support through the CMS

The CMS provides psychological services as part of its wider healthcare provision for the university community. Its facilities include a dedicated psychology office, and the university’s published personnel statistics identify two psychologists. Students can access psychological consultations and guidance to help them manage stress, address personal difficulties, and navigate challenges that may affect their academic experience and well-being.

The centre also provides general medical consultations, nursing care, dental services, laboratory investigations, and other healthcare services. This multidisciplinary approach connects psychological support with the university’s broader health services.

The university’s reported statistics demonstrate the continued provision and use of psychological support. In 2025, the CMS recorded 1,002 psychological consultations, compared with 854 in 2024 and 813 in 2023.

5.2. Student Mental Health and the Sabeelk Platform

In addition to face-to-face support, the university is strengthening its approach to student well-being through digital initiatives. The Sabeelk platform provides students with a digital entry point for psychological self-assessment and access to mental-health-related resources. Its approach encourages students to pay attention to their psychological well-being, reflect on their needs, and seek appropriate support when necessary.

During its first week, 11 students registered on the Sabeelk platform, marking an initial step in student engagement with this digital initiative. The platform complements the university’s existing psychological services by promoting awareness and providing another route through which students can begin engaging with mental-health support.

The platform also supports the broader digitalisation of student services and the integration of technology into student well-being initiatives. Its early registration figure provides an initial measure of uptake; continued monitoring will help the university assess participation and identify opportunities to improve student engagement.

5.3. Developing an Integrated System for Student Psychological Care

The university’s approach combines professional psychological support, preventive awareness, student guidance, and digital initiatives. In line with the relevant ministerial initiative to develop a more comprehensive system for student psychological care, these efforts aim to facilitate access to support, encourage early identification of difficulties, and strengthen coordination between student services.

The objective is to create a supportive university environment in which students can seek help, access relevant resources, and maintain their psychological well-being throughout their academic journey.

5.4. Student Clubs and Extracurricular Activities

Student clubs and extracurricular activities also contribute to a positive university experience. Cultural, artistic, scientific, sporting, and volunteering activities provide opportunities for students to socialise, express themselves, develop their interests, and establish supportive peer relationships.

Participation in these activities can help students take constructive breaks from academic pressures, develop a sense of belonging, strengthen interpersonal skills, and maintain a healthier balance between study and personal life. These initiatives complement professional psychological care by promoting social connection, creativity, active participation, and personal development.

5.5. Main Mental Health Support Services and Initiatives

Psychological consultations, counselling, and guidance through the CMS.

Access to a dedicated psychology office and qualified psychological personnel.

Medical and healthcare services that complement psychological support.

The Sabbelk digital platform, supporting psychological self-assessment and engagement with mental-health resources.

Student-club and extracurricular activities that promote social connection and well-being.

Health-awareness and prevention activities addressing student health and psychosocial concerns.

Continued development of a coordinated approach to student psychological care in line with relevant ministerial initiatives.

5.6.
