In accordance with <strong>Article 212<\/strong>, male employees are entitled to a <strong>three (3)-day special leave<\/strong> on the occasion of the birth of their child. This right applies equally to all university staff members and is considered an essential step toward promoting shared parental responsibilities and gender equality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, Algerian legislation allows fathers to benefit from <strong>extended unpaid parental leave ranging from one (1) to five (5) years<\/strong> when the newborn or child suffers from a chronic illness or disability requiring special care. This legal provision ensures that non-gestational parents can play an active role in childcare and family support, helping mothers balance their professional or academic commitments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>University Commitment:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The University of Oum El Bouaghi recognizes the importance of fathers\u2019 involvement in childcare as a key factor in supporting women\u2019s participation in education and employment. Therefore, the university:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Guarantees the right to paternity leave as defined by national law.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Facilitates the administrative process for requesting special or unpaid leave in cases of childcare or illness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Encourages flexible arrangements, where possible, to enable fathers to assist in family responsibilities without affecting their career progression.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Objective:<\/strong><br>This policy aims to promote <strong>gender equity and family balance<\/strong> by ensuring that both parents\u2014mothers and fathers\u2014can share childcare responsibilities.
